Cap Haitien
Dear ConVal, I'm here!! A long ,hot day, and many new sights and sounds: I'll bring back pictures. The hospital is bigger than I thought, and there about 300 patients here. I have been working in the pharmacy organizing the medicines and supplies. It is very confusing and misorganized, but after cleaning it up today, we will move to a different building tomorrow! With lights and a lock on the door. This will make everyone happy !It is super hot and I get to sleep in a tent. I'll be careful with the mosquitos though. I'm really tired as I have walked miles to the tents and back to the compound many times. Beans and rice for lunch-- potatoes and salad for dinner - and it tasted great. Good nite, I'm very tired, cher

Turks and Caicos
Hi All, we are here on the most beautiful island in the British West Indies!! The two flights to get here were abut 3 hr. each! We landed around 2p.m. , got settled in our room and went to the beach!! The ocean was chilly and refreshing. Our "playday" ended with a long walk to a nice restaurant for dinner and back again. Tomorrow we go to Haiti-- no more "play time". I am in the company of 4 nurses, one Nurse Practitioner and a Dr.-a surgeon. They are all from the Boston area, all volunteers, all amazing people wiling to share their lives. What would happen in the world if they didn't step up and do this work? They are actually making plans for a long term committment to the Sacre Couer Hospital in Milot ,Haiti. Google it- see what it looks like. Good nite; tomorrow can't come soon enough for me, cher

Dream
One day and counting- but who's nervous? Not me; just excited!I'm all packed except for a few incidentals. I even went to the bank for cash- all in one dollar bills. I guess you don't want to have change left at the end of your stint in a currency that is not useful anywhere else on earth. Who knows, I could go back someday. I've been daydreaming with a few Con Val students about a service trip to Haiti next year. Want to come with us? I'll scope out some possibilities. There is always Habitat for Humanity- a non-profit which has always been active there.Continue to dream, cher
